Dining at the foot of the light
In the cozy kitchen of the lighthouse keeper's cottage, at the foot of the UK's easternmost lighthouse, sharing a meal takes on a whole new meaning. As the aroma of fresh coffee or a delicious meal mingles with the salty sea air wafting through the open window, you feel the tranquility of this place inviting you to let go.
Right next to the house is Sparrow's Nest, a beautiful park where the world seems to slow down. You hear birdsong, sometimes the soft rustle of leaves—and with a little luck, you might even see a curious squirrel dart by. Away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, closer to yourself and each other.
Behind the house, you'll find a secluded spot, a hidden corner where time stands still. There, with a glass of wine in hand and the scent of the sea still on your skin, you look at each other and know: this is one of those moments you won't forget.
A meal here becomes a memory.
Waking up at the edge of the world
The first rays of sunlight slip past the wooden shutters—still closed, but you sense the day dawning. You slowly open them, and there it is: the sun rising from the sea, as if appearing just for you.
The day begins in peace and quiet, with only the soft sound of the waves in the background.
The Oostkaap is your place.
Here everything can become quiet for a moment.
Memories of the Oostkaap
Beams of light from our guests
A place that makes you silent, both outside and inside
What a remarkable week. I came to the Oostkaap to unwind, and that's exactly what this place gave me. From the very first morning, I was struck by how quiet it is here. It's not empty, but peaceful. As if the wind and the birds are gently whispering to you that all is well.
And yet... within walking distance, you'll find everything you need: delicious eateries, a charming shopping street, the beach. That contrast made my stay extra special.
The house itself has been renovated with love and taste. Authentic, yet comfortable. Everything is perfect. You can feel the history here, yet at the same time, you can simply be yourself.
I really caught my breath. I went home with renewed energy and wonderful memories.

A wonderful family week full of adventure and relaxation
We thoroughly enjoyed our week in the Oostkaap! The house is not only beautifully situated and tastefully decorated, but also a perfect base for a holiday with children. Our two boys (6 and 9) loved it.
There was something to do every day: we rented a canoe on the Broads and sailed past reed beds, seeing lots of birds. We spotted seals on the coast in Great Yarmouth (a magical moment!), and spent a day at Pleasurewood Hills – an amusement park perfect for primary school-aged children: well-organized, cheerful, and full of fun rides.
And in between? Swimming, ice cream, walking along the beach, and enjoying a delicious dinner in Lowestoft, just a short walk from the house. Perfect!
The combination of tranquility, nature, and child-friendly excursions made this an unforgettable week for us. We'll definitely be back!
